Common Grounds Coffeehouse

Today I visited Common Grounds on SE Hawthorne and 43rd for their cinnamon roll! I had called ahead a couple weeks ago to see if they made their own cinnamon rolls and the guy I talked to (who was super nice) said he did make cinnamon rolls, a few each day, but immediately told me that he was still working on the recipe and wasn’t sure how much I would like them! When I got to Common Grounds, the café reminded me of Portland in the 90s which I loved, and I spotted these yummy looking cinnamon rolls in the case. I dug in and, honestly, I don’t know what that guy was talking about- these cinnamon rolls are amazing! The brioche is very well made and melts in your mouth, the frosting is not too sweet and there’s plenty of cinnamon flavor mixed in. You can taste the good-quality butter in the bread, and the whole thing balances really well! I almost cant imagine these cinnamon rolls being much better, so I don’t know what that guy was talking about! This is definitely a place where I could see myself hanging out for a few hours and eating like 5 cinnamon rolls lol!

Favorite part: Great brioche!

Least favorite part: Frosting could maybe use a little work? It was definitely in the background
