JaCiva’s Bakery

Today I visited JaCiva’s on SE Hawthorne and 48th for their cinnamon roll! I’ve actually swung by a few times over the last few weeks and this is the first time they’ve had one. I dug in and was happy to see a really good amount of dark cinnamon inside… however, the bread was kind of dry and a little stale, and had the taste of an average store-bought pastry. The roll became more moist as you reached the center, but the overall taste was fairly bland and nothing really stood-out. The icing was a bit too sweet for me… but… they were super nice to me when I came in! I think JaCiva’s is more known for their chocolates and their cakes, so maybe their pastries are a bit of an afterthought.

Favorite part: The woman that helped me was super nice!

Least favorite part: Probably the bread, which was pretty bland and dry.
