Jen’s Pastries

Yesterday I visited Jen’s Pastries walk-up window at SW Dakota and Macadam for their cinnamon roll! They supply a ton of coffee shops and stores in Portland with baked goods, and I found that I had already tried and reviewed one of their rolls (from Bastion Coffee) early in my cinnamon roll journey! They open their wholesale bakery for walk-up customers once a week (Saturdays) from 9am until they sell out. I arrived at 8:55 and the line was already 13 people long!! The smell coming out into the cold, drizzly air was crazy and sweet and cinnamonny and I ended up ordering many more pastries than I had planned once I made it to the front. The cinnamon roll was a croissant roll which frosting, and reminded me immediately of the cinnamon-sugar (sans frosting) roll they had made for Bastion. The frosting was very sweet, and the roll not-too-cinnamonny. This was more of an all-dressed-up croissant, wearing cinnamon roll perfume and a frosting beret. Very well made, but not my favorite. I also got a pesto-asiago-egg pastry that was absolutely killer! I can’t wait to get back on another Saturday morning and try her other creations!

Favorite part: The croissant was well made, flakey and buttery

Least favorite part: Not enough cinnamon to balance the sweeeet frosting.
