Lauretta Jean’s

Today I visited Lauretta Jean’s on SE Division and 34th for their cinnamon roll! I have to say; I love Lauretta Jean’s. I request their key lime pie for my birthday (instead of cake) every year. I love all of their pies! So I was really excited to try their cinnamon roll, and just look at this beast! I tore in and my first impression was that the brioche is excellent. It was so tasty and there was a hint of nutmeg, which, mixed with the cinnamon gave off a very light whiff of eggnog (which I actually love). The frosting, however, was everywhere and very very sweet. There wasn’t much of the cinnamon streusel I’m always searching for, just frosting, and as I neared the center of the roll, I found myself searching for bites of the brioche alone without the frosting, which is a pity because I really wanted to love this one!

Favorite part: The hint of nutmeg was a christmas surprise!

Least favorite part: The super sweet frosting got into every bite.
